ok on the topic of stealing and irkens in the shoutbox i have some thoughts on how irkens be shopping
itd be really funny if the norm in irken society is that items are registered as purchased when an irken leaves the store with them (via some stupid supercomputer recognition program), so cashiers in a setting like an irken hot topic are pretty much redundant. so when an irken is in literally any other space where other aliens are they take stuff and leave without paying thinking it'll be charged automatically. its not stealing if you thought thats how you bought things
the culture shock for younger irkens who've never been outside of colonies is probably really funny to see. they just run out of a store with a buncha clothes and act like its nothing

That store you just described is a real thing that exists! There are Amazon Go stores where there are sensors that detect objects the customer picks up and they are charged automatically after leaving the store. Given that Irkens love their stuff, I bet there would be an Irken equivalent to an Amazon Go store. Maybe some sort of super mall (or even a Foodcourtia-esque shopping planet?) where Irkens can go on non-stop shopping sprees without having to deal with the annoying wait at the register.

Maybe some sort of super mall (or even a Foodcourtia-esque shopping planet?) where Irkens can go on non-stop shopping sprees without having to deal with the annoying wait at the register. YAYA those kinds of stores were kind of living in the back of my brain when i made that headcanon... also this one tiktok where this person told a story of this lady who came up to the register in a macys connected to a mall with a shopping cart trying to check out stuff she took from other stores in the mall. peak irken energy |

I imagine if an indignation of Irkens went to a shopping mall it would be an absolute bloodbath mixed with the second half of Gremlins. |
