Despite that irkens have 3 fingers I think they have 2 toes. I think this because my favorite part of a beetle is their little claws.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk *leaves with the microphone *

I think Irkens have 2 main toes and a dewclaw. Y'know, for Grippy Grippy purposes. There's actually a mutation where the dewclaw can enlongate into something resembling a rooster's spurs, and those Irkens use their spurs for Stabby Stabby Purposes. They almost never wear boots.

Irkens with Stabby Stabby claws often get pushed into underground blood sports because their inability to wear boots (uniform violations up the wazoo) and the perceived threat of them stabbing their CO's eyes out makes them unattractive for the military. There's an entire subculture of Stabby Irkens who fight in underground gladiator battles and try to gouge each other's eyes out with their spurs. Feet and leg injuries are common among these Irkens due to their spurs often breaking off.

I was thinking of their injuries in terms of the dewclaw/toe the spur was attached to breaking/getting ripped off/accumulating stress injuries, but clipping the claw would be a great way to mitigate that. You guys know that you can de-spur a rooster almost permanently with very little pain right? you just need a potato... literally.... also, you can de-spur them permanently by breaking it off and damaging the bone that causes it to grow, but that sucks, i hate hurting the little dudes. also! their spurs will break off naturally sometimes! they regrow as smooth little bumps first and then slowly turn back into spurs.... if their spurs stay on without being broken for a very long time, they can get as long as SIX INCHES!! hens ALSO can grow spurs, growing leg death spikes is not gendered, enjoy! :) (another random chicken note: they can spontaneously change sex if their ovary gets damaged, a rooster can become a hen, and a hen can become a rooster, genetically!)

Irkens are just chickens with PAKs and an attitude, apparently. Behold, a man! *grabs an Irken with spurs and a potato* You’re wearing boots like everyone else from now on, buster.

i like to think that they have 2 also, but something i draw them with 2 in the front and one pointing backwards, similar 2 that of perching birds and used for a similar purpose originally. now its just inconvienent for wearing shoes and isnt that common
