Yeah the showmanship with the announcer and the Tallests are interesting because the Tallests are more like wrestling announcers than they are leaders. Irken society just has a big emphasis on mindless, deadly, and over the top entertainment so I guess any irken involved in the entertainment career is pretty highly regarded since they hold a lot of influence so the clothing is bound to be more luxurious.

The idea that the Tallest are just wrestling announcers is hilarious. Imagine their voices cracking when they're trying to say something important. You can definitely see the "wrestling announcer voice inflection" in the Announcer. Also, wearing masks is associated with high-ranking Irkens who are not the Tallest (Sizz-Lorr's gas mask and the Announcer). I still wonder why the Tallests aren't wearing dictator capes when the Announcer is. I guess Jhonen wanted to make them stand out from regular space dictators.

Maybe they think capes get in the way Get in the way of what? All they do is lounge and give orders. CAPE GO SWOOSH!! IS DRAMATIC!! ADDS EMPHASIS!! Plus, since they float, they can get away with longer capes without it touching the floor. But yeah, the Irkens pulling a collective Edna Mode could explain why the Tallest don't wear capes. Or maybe capes are associated exclusively with the entertainer class and so Tallest don't wear them.

The Irken Guard/Soldier uniform vexes me...there are so many things to grab onto. It's interesting that it uses a similar collar to the Navigators. Also, they have an implement similar to Tak's. They also have the asymmetrical pattern seen on the Tallest's breastplates, the Announcer's mask, and their belts, apparently, although I think the direction is reversed.

Zim spacesuit! One of the things I noticed that the ribbing/stripes that are commonly on the arms in Irken uniforms are in this one are on the legs, and the arms have none of those details. This one also has a smaller version of the Navigator/Guardsman collar. And that thing on his chest, what is it for? None of the Irken uniforms other than maybe Rarl's have anything that looks like it, and I can't think of what function it might serve. Oxygen tank, maybe? Also, there's something clipped to Zim's collar (communication device, maybe?)

INCHERESTING...you know the thing I thought was clipped to his collar? It's free-floating. Also, I love being able to see the details of the suit, especially the detail that the pieces composing the bit of Zim's suit going over his midriff is darker that the suit. And those gigantic pauldrons...why are they there?

Photo by z1mothy As BETELGEUSE pointed out, the triangle on Floog's shirt could indicate that he is in training. However, I'm not sure if the triangle is Just for Irkens in training as Floog's CO, Commander Theen also has a triangle. So do Floog's fellow scientists. Also, Floog is the tallest or second-tallest of his unit, and the only one wearing heels, so we may have evidence that only tall Irkens are allowed to wear heels. Two or three of the short Irkens are wearing duller tunics than the taller ones (although one of the short ones is wearing a bright magenta uniform), and one of the tall ones are wearing almost the same shade of red as Theen.

A mischief of Irkens in the wild.

Yep! When Zim gets back through the time thingy, the Irkens are all old. He also abandons them.

If it does actually mean they're in training then I like 2 think that they've been released into the wild (As in put on a mission without a more experienced irken) as a part of training, Theen was just assigned commander for it (probably was the most trusted or something idk...) Tho I have hardly read any of the comics lol ^_^ Also idk if this makes sense <3
