If it does actually mean they're in training then I like 2 think that they've been released into the wild (As in put on a mission without a more experienced irken) as a part of training, Theen was just assigned commander for it (probably was the most trusted or something idk...) Tho I have hardly read any of the comics lol ^_^ Also idk if this makes sense <3 thats pretty accurate to how Commander Poki was seen training Zim and the rest of her fleet, despite them being day 1 trainees she referred to Zim as "soldier" and "invader". and gave them all a mission. Yeah, them being trainees makes total sense, and there's nothing in the text saying they're NOT trainees.

If they are indeed trainees, this completely recontextualizes Commander Theen asking for Zim's help in retrieving them. Those are HIS grad students.

I think I was wrong when I drew Tank’s Elite gauntlets. Look at the “fingers” on the gloves. I don’t think their fingers are exposed-I think they’re wearing metal claws. As this post goes into, the claws on the Elite gauntlets bear more than a passing resemblance to the training claws used in Hobo-13. Elite uniforms, I’ve done you so wrong. *takes off hat*

Is Sizz-Lorr’s shirt closed by buttons or zippers, because if I can find that out, there are some BIG implications as to how the rest of Irken clothing might be constructed. Personally, I think it’s a zipper because it’s easier, and we already see a zipper-like motif in Irken clothing.

The pattern resembles Irken zipper teeth! Remember what I said about the Massive’s bumper stickers representing the Irkens consuming everything in their path? This could also call back to that.

"Red searches through the discarded SIR parts as Purple pulls out a screw, 2 pennies, a paper clip, and a rubber ball from his pocket band."
"Red pulls a sandwich out of his belt and hands it to Zim."
From The Nightmare Begins
OOOOOOHHHH CRAP those bands that form the Tallest's corset actually double as pockets and storage space. Purple's just doing the equivalent of sticking things in his bra! Kind of reminds me of when pockets weren't sewn into clothing so you would basically have pockets on a belt-thing that you would wear under your dress and stick things in.

Can I just say I love these guys and their jetpacks and goggles? And what's this? They have a purple triangle motif on their shirt? Their harness seems to at least have a strap going around their neck/upper chest and under their arms. They're one of the few Irkens (Shloogorgh's staff, Irken Scouts) to wear goggles, and their goggles are red, suggesting this might be one of the preferred lens colors for goggles.

OOOHH remember what secretlabz said about Irkens being a bunch of evil wizards and supervillians? Both the shoulder pieces on Rarl Kove's robes and the Elites are pointy. Rarl's even point up and curve like the profile of an evil fortress on a mountain.

If you look at the short red one’s claws, it very clearly shows their claws have a backward-facing curve or hook, kind of like a fishhook.

Look at the fourth one’s gauntlets. Notice anything different? It seems the Elite’s claws can retract. Also, Elites are one of the few Irkens to have pockets/pouches as part of their uniform, although here it’s less pockets and more “pouches on a belt”. Elites can wear goggles, and this one seems to wrap behind the head and attach to the side of the mask, versus the Irken Scouts’ goggles which are a separate piece.
