random thots thread went full circle time to make an individual thread for every new idea that comes into me brain now... this time irken fashion stuff
1. ive had the hc that irkens get more apparent dark marks around their eyes as they age. ex. sizz-lorr. they get natural eyeliner <3
2. i also think that irkens would probably have a culture around acting and looking mature and fully grown... mostly bc young typically = short. it probably isnt something shorties like to do bc it means ppl will realize thats as tall as theyre getting n pick on them
3. now... im picturing young irkens tacking on a shit ton of eyeliner and getting made fun of for making it noticeable and clear that its makeup. its just fashion bro im not trying to look like im old as balls like u r

i also think uhhh that the sale of platform boots would be intensely regulated and youd have to have specific clearances/connections to get them <3 bc its fucking funny. zim arrested for illegal possession of 5 inch heels
same with any body modification/plastic surgery that can affect height n growth. bro that forehead extension is banned in several star systems

Red and Purple wear eyeshadow to make themselves look older than they really are, and by extension more legitimate.
Imagine it being mandated for younger Irkens that if you want to wear eyeshadow, you have to wear it in funky colors so it doesn’t look like the dark eyebags of older Irkens.

There’s also a high pressure to wear Irken-made fabrics, enforced through tariffs and sumptuary laws. Pink is also regarded as similar to black-as the color that goes with everything. Irkens like a certain style of collar for their leaders’ shirts/breastplates-see Sizz-Lorr’s shirt collar and the Tallests’ breastplates.
Oh, and see-through/sheer/lacy fabric is SCANDALOUS!!! Get thee to the re-education center!

Black is associated with Irken Scouts, and navy blue is associated with the Elites because it’s the color of their forehead tattoos. |

i hc irkens can see shrimp colors and infrared so their color perception is a bit different than humans... colors literally can look "warm" or "cold" to them and they probably use that for fashion purposes. bro you havent even complemented the heat patterning on my fancy dress whats wrong with you
i also hc that irken gothic fashion is brightly colored and obnoxious to look at bc of it, what other way to tell people youre dangerous and edgy than aposematism

irkens probably have like, machines that automatically tailor fit their clothes (thanks intense differences between height and body types) but i dont think that the machines would have much variation in clothing styles... itd probably be more for standard issue uniforms and stuff. if you wanna look fancy for our dinner party you should get a guy to design and hand craft stuff for you
and unrelated to the thread topic... maybe in this kind of society handmade goods are highly valued over factory made stuff. theres probably a big market for handcrafted clothing and accessories and stuff- maybe irkens spend their breaks making hobby stuff. the only reason thats not considered a defective behavior to consume or create that kind of thing is that it stimulates economic circulation and keeps ppl from going bonkers freaking yonkers

I love the idea of secret heat patterns on clothes. They might look like Damask where they’re only visible from certain angles or at certain temperatures. |
