do you guys ever like... break out of the structure of fandom for a second? like you stop following all the "popular" and "BNF" ppl in ur fandom and take a break from fanfic and shipping and all that garbage and coming back to it youre just totally alienated by this culture you used to be so enmeshed in...
cause like... in my experience. i did that and i started realizing how goddamn WEIRD it is that fandom is even a thing as it is rn. like there are people who dedicate their entire heart and soul for shit thats like cartoon shows for babies and put so much fucking energy into obsessing over that cartoon show for babies and it seems REALLY unhealthy. like its fine to do that shit sometimes for fun but like for the most part people doing that as their only interactions with other human beings on the internet is just??? what??? like imagine people being like that about teletubbies. thats how normal people see it. people getting in fights about shipping teletubbies. people getting mad and saying that teletubbies fandom is an adult space. people getting mad that people see their teletubbies porn and say "hey dont fucking do that kids watch this show." people making 900k multipart fics about teletubbies grimdark au where one of them dies and they have to fight a bad guy idfk i havent watched teletubbies since i was 4 this metaphor is getting kind of dumb
