I think it's great that smeets live underground... Same.My headcanon that Irkens were originally a cave dwelling species comes from this. Also, I like to think that Zim hanging out in the toilet for a while is connected to this? Maybe all Irkens subconsciously feel more comfortable underground.

Imagine Zim going into the backyard and digging a little hole for himself to sit in when he feels nervous. Alternatively, every time he doubts himself, he makes plans to expand his base.

An Irken fashion thing I just noticed: All the high-ranking Irkens (Tallest, Rarl Kove, the Navigators) and the Irken scientists all have long or long-ish skirts. I think wearing long skirts might be a status symbol in Irken culture, showing that you're smart and skilled and tall enough to not have to fight or do manual labor. Plus, if you're already tall, a long skirt might make you look even taller.

Yes, you're right, it is interesting! I completely forgot about the Announcer's cape. He probably wears it along with his mask to look flashy and dramatic, and as symbols of his office. Man, Irkens should have more capes. The fact that the Tallest don't have epaulettes and Fancy Dictator Capes as part of their designs will astound me to this day. I made a thread exploring the possible implications of Irken fashion if y'all'd like to look at it/add on with your own insights.
