Hylobates water striders have been found in plastic jugs in the middle of the ocean. Apparently there are a whole bunch of water strider species that live on coastal waters, but there are no insects that live out at sea as part of their habitat. johnepler.com/FL%20Water%20Bugs.pdf

Water striders are scary sometimes. They're predators, and they'll even eat things like spiders or their own kind. They stab their prey with their proboscis, inject saliva to break down the insides, and then such them out. Cool, but not what I was expecting. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerridae#Diet
