Thinking about Irken horror tropes. Body horror is probably big with them, as well as tech horror, because they're surrounded by so much of both. And body-snatching horror, and haunted arcades, because why not. Also, cannibalism. Hierarchies are probably also a prominent theme in their horror. i think irken horror tropes are sometimes an inversion of what they do to other aliens- like irkens getting subjected to the horrible things they do to other aliens by mysterious forces... or maybe their political enemies
"bro what if... an alien species came to irk and enslaved us all... how fucking scary would that be bro" "bro thats so scary dont ever say that again" "BRO what if you got abducted and got peeled apart by a meekrob" "OMG STOPPP"
YES YES YES YES YES I was gonna get to that!

What if PAK software is open source for Irkens (or it wasn't supposed to be, but someone leaked it) so there are all these Irkens making cool modifications to the code of their PAKs...and just as many accidentally adding more bugs. With software modification becoming sort of a sport and various questionable "1NV4D3R 571NK'S SUPER PAK MOD v1.23 UpDate!!1!1!1" files listed on Irken torrents.

Again this brings up my theory of "Betelgeuse runs on Linux" because he's an experiment of many kinds... Irkens that are running on different operating systems because someone leaked the source code to certain versions of paks. and the control brains pushing out updates to silently make those irkens go crazy bonkers so they have to get their paks "fixed" by being re;encoded properly by the system. (it's to tie up loose ends and cause planned obsolescence)

(it's to tie up loose ends and cause planned obsolescence) They could also get an Irken in big trouble for having an unofficial Pak firmware installed, although the newer mods are probably designed with evading tamper detection in mind. Perhaps some modifications intentionally cause the reader to glitch out...

But yeah, I do wonder what kinds of added features would be the most popular.
The mechanical parts are probably not very configurable, but maybe there could be an optimization to how the extendable legs move or such.
The software features, on the other hand... Tricking access control systems by assigning oneself a fake ranking of an Elite, Navigator or even Tallest... Masquerading as other Irkens and getting folks in trouble. Accessing secret information. Controlling the Massive's systems without authorization. Locking one's enemies out of their quarters. Freely erasing compromising memories before a trial. So many possibilities.

So many opportunities for crime and grifting. Excellent.

GUYS...I need to find the comic page, but I found a canonical example of Irken firearms! They're alien rays guns, as I expected, but they're red and green, which is unusual for Irken tech.
