another addition to this: i think irkens would like semi-dried fruit thats been coated in sugar. i think they'd like it a LOT. i used to make jerky out of shoulder flank from deer, if you let it cook to the point that it was done but still juicy on the inside you could still eat it while it was cooking (the heat from cooking it would kill any bacteria) and i personally think vortions would lose their little carnivoristic MINDS over it. (a note to this: do not cook jerky like this and then let it cool and eat it! then it's subject to bacteria!! you can eat it while its still like, hot, from cooking, but don't let it cool and then eat it while it's still like, medium rare inside!!!!! thats bad and dangerous! just either eat it all or GO AWAY LET IT DRY YOU FREAK!!!! as my family would say to me, lol) Forget the Vortians, I'm losing my mind over some good jerky!!! I wish the Vortians were real so I could invite them to a cookout and we could exchange seafood rub recipes and barbecuing tips. Once again, I bring up my premise of Zim breaking into a beehive looking for honey. Alternatively, imagine him raiding a farmer's market or the honey aisle at a grocery store. I think actual, real fruit (not fruit-flavored stuff) is a delicacy on Irk because it's so rare (their reliance on processed food with lots of sugar and salt in it may be a reaction to needing to preserve food for long voyages), but Irkens are so used to the texture of processed foods and not having to deal with seeds that once they get the fruit they don't actually like it. |

So if irkens can get drunk off cheese (comics) is Gir's obsession with nachos substance abuse to Zim. which is why he shows disgust to it? or is it just gross like, having a robot in a fursuit covered in liquified cheese is gross. we see Zim show obvious disgust for these things....except the honey, Dib actually traps him in the comics via tricking him with honey at one point. "oh, how did i get in here....?" to which Gir replies something to the extent of "Dib lured you with honey" Honestly, I think Zim sees GIR as just a little gross sometimes. You wouldn't like seeing your dog-robot-minion-child covered in sticky cheese. The fact that it's Irken alcohol makes it even grosser. That won't stop Zim from shotgunning an entire can of whippy cheese that GIR just licked into his mouth when he's in an especially shmoopy mood. Moreover, if Irkens can get drunk on cheese, does that mean they can also get drunk on milk, or is it the fermenting process to make cheese that makes it alcoholic to them and not the dairy itself? Maybe milk is the equivalent of kombucha or non-alcoholic ginger beer. Also, imagine Zim with a little flask that he carries honey or maple syrup around in. |

Also, cheesemaking (outside of a vegetarian alternative to rennet, of which there are many) relies on rennet, a group of enzymes that comes from the stomach of animal. Once again, Irkens are not as vegetarian as people think they are. I wonder what rennet substitute the Irkens use to make cheese.

You just reminded me that in the first episode of The Nightmare Begins, The Announcer says, "It looks like the crowd is being treated to nachos!" The nachos are slathered with cheese and it being revealed later that cheese is like alcohol to Irkens puts that scene in a different light. The scene is basically: Announcer: The crowd is getting free beer! Zim: I want free beer! Why the fuck did I not receive the invitation in time? |

Ok, so I looked it up and beer nacho dip is a thing. If in some alternate universe, there was a live action remake of Invader Zim and the writers wanted to make it canon accurate as possible they could do that. |

DO NOT SAY THOSE WORDS "LIVE ACTION" NETFLIX WILL HEAR YOU /lh I didn't say "live action Netflix", but I was thinking it. Fucking imagine, oh my god. I'm envisioning it's from a team not from the original show with a show runner who isn't Jhonen that want to make a "more mature" Invader Zim reboot. It's stars Dib, a disillusioned teen loser that is re-written as a Daria type. Gaz is written as the designated "not like other girls alternative girl" and Professor Membrane's neglectful side is leaned on to the point of being an abusive parent, which will be a side plot in this imaginary Netflix series. The Irken Empire are basically alien Nazis, completely erasing their wacky quirks. Just like Dib, the writers will also focus on pitying Zim but there won't be a redemption arc for him. In an attempt to be more mature, Zim is a competent super genius that has Gir as the designated Minion character of the story. The overarching stories will be focused on trauma, mental illness, and how we live in a society. Edit: Whoops, almost forgot to mention that Tak will eventually become Zim's love interest in an enemies to lovers story line. |

the fact that i had a dream that the entire original team came together to make a "more dark, edgier, more lore filled, sometimes bloodied." version of invader zim that actually took itself somewhat (but not entirely, esp not zim's perspective) very seriously.
two different types of nightmares over here tonight OP.
