"Zim! those people ARE real, and they've been looking for their mail for MONTHS." Zim: Well calm down, 'cause here's one thing that's not gonna happen. Skoodge : What? Zim : We're not gonna get exiled. Skoodge : We're not? Zim : 'Cause we've already been fired.

Headcanon: the irken empire plants all their debt on one irken and then when it gets too high they have that irken assassinated and start over.

Headcanon: the irken empire plants all their debt on one irken and then when it gets too high they have that irken assassinated and start over. It's usually the shortest Irken alive, and the reason it hasn't been Zim yet is because there are hundreds of service drones to go through before it's his turn.

Since we're having Zim takes this fine day, I'm obsessed with the idea that Zim is a heroic figure for defective and short Irkens who want to change the Empire. It sounds weird but hear me out on this: Zim actively fights against the idea that he needs to be short to be an invader, even arguing against his tall superiors. It would also be painfully ironic that the character who is the most bootlicking Irken alive is also the one being upheld for fighting against the system the most. Zim would hate all of the people hailing him as a hero once he finds out the reason. He'd see the think pieces about him and be horrified because people think he hates his Tallests and superiors. it's canon that Zim inadvertently jumpstarted the resistance and in the comics lard nar mentions that Zim is a hero I stopped reading the comics after a certain point, but holy shit, what. I don't take the comics as canon because the characterization went downhill, but I will gladly accept that as canon. I love how that inadvertently connects with The Trial because it was shown that Lard Nar was one of the scientists that worked with Zim.

Imagine being an adult scientist on a space station and one of your coworkers not only being 1. A child, 2. A very destructive child, quite possibly the most destructive in history, 3. that child eventually growing up to be so destructive he inadvertently kickstarted the liberation movement for your planet.

I have feelings about the scientist crew of Research Station 9 doing their best to look out for younger!Zim. *crying cat* I'm really curious about how aliens made to work with the Irkens feel about the Irken Empire using child labor. Especially the ones who are parents. I can imagine some of them trying to offer Zim help with projects and getting things off shelves when he obviously needs it, but he's already swallowed so much of the propaganda that 'Irkens are the best' and 'Irkens need no help from aliens' he won't let them help him.
