Personally, my theory for Zim never acknowledging that he killed Tallest Miyuki is because of trauma. Zim has killed many people, but personally killing his leader on accident? That's got to be bone chilling for a person who was programmed to worship their leader. I could genuinely write about Zim's trauma for days. i'd buy THAT for a dollar! *Hands orangeypopsicle a dollar* Emotionally destroy me. You know what to do.

Red: Now, we erase the remaining organics (Red and Purple move closer to the railing of their platform) on Blorch, paving the way for... I dunno, maybe a... parking structure planet?
This line from Battle of The Planets is so interesting to me, because it shows how much the Irkens consider themselves technology and separate from other organisms (specifically non-PAK and non-Irken organisms). It's really intriguing to me because I'm also in the Transformers fandom, and to a Cybertronian, Irkens would be considered organics, maybe Techno-organic if the Cybertronian was feeling charitable (or not-charitable) about where Irkens fall on the Organic-Mechanical organism scale.

(10 minute 'til doom) and when you remove an irkens pak, they literally have 10 minutes until their body completely shuts down and kills them, the pak will seek out any viable host because it IS the irken. (all hail chair Zim.) So....yes and no? the body is like... A reverse mech suit.

*Hands orangeypopsicle a dollar* Emotionally destroy me. You know what to do. i have 8 cents in my paypal and they're all yours. do it. destroy me. lkdjfladghdslfj I was doing a watercolor project for school for a bit, so I missed these messages. Here you go! Zim's memory loss could be because of his faulty pak, but another reason is how he responds to traumatic events. Instead of facing that he is the cause of the atrocities that have plagued his people since his literal birth, he chooses to repress these memories and re-writes them when confronted. He also puts up a shield of being the greatest Irken to exist to cope with everyone hating him. You can see this on display during The Frycook What Came from All That Space and The Trial. Zim displays some awareness of his actions through the seeming preparation of being confronted with being the murderer of Tallest Spork, but ultimately spends the trial denying the realities he was being faced with. Zim completely forgets his re-encoding and time as a food service drone until he was kidnapped by Sizz-Lorr and it is shown to the audience through a series of painful memories. Also, his paranoia may be a result of the violence around him? Zim has had decades of military training, so the mentality that he must fight against the people who are a threat to the Irken Empire may have been drilled into him to the point that he perceives threats that aren't there.

I've got my own idea as to why that is. The Tallests weren't coping well with the aftermath of Backseat Drivers from Beyond the Stars and we see that in Enter the Florpus. Both of them insisting that The Massive went straight comes from The Massive spinning out of control and any kind of serious movement of the ship being too much for them. Red, who is usually patient towards Zim, became both mean and fearful towards Zim was because of the entire ship nearly dying in that episode. The Tallests became aware that Zim killed two previous Tallests and almost became the next two in Backseat Drivers. Thank you for including the detail about the Inflatable Spork. It shows not only that Zim knew what was coming, even if he didn't realize it, but took steps to prepare for it, so much that Inflatable Spork was able to fool Red and Purple who had seen Spork in person (well, right up until Inflatable Spork deflated). You've wounded my soul with your excellent analysis. Poor Zim is just a repressed little lima bean with psychological issues shambling around traumatized.

Red was shown as being pretty capable as a tallest before that episode but then when he had to MANUALLY OVERRIDE AND HACK MIYUKI'S SHIP (which we've been shown pretty clearly neither of them exactly know how to completely operate and that it's kind of been breaking down slowly through all the shit it's been through) IT WAS PRETTY CLEAR. and also "SAAAAVE THE DOUGHHHHNUUUTTTSSS!" was a good line. (Purple canonically having motion sickness? very interesting.)

In The Massive. it's their own personal hell Literally.
