Still thinking about Irken NASCAR. Irken flags are everywhere in the stadium, of course. The ships are covered in decals from corporate sponsors. I love this a lot. I imagining that they combined NASCAR with the shared Irken love of violence and made it a ship battle race. All of these crazy ass modified ships that blast lasers and shit at each other. It's quite dangerous to be a spectator at the event, but that makes it doubly fun to see remotely. A community of ship modding makes Tak's ship less remarkable, but I actually like that? It's a fun little sub-culture detail. |

Making bulky ships for defense reasons makes the most sense. If your ship gets wrecked, you could potentially die. I wouldn't be shocked if the fatality rate for an Irken racer is really high and the injury rate is more so. And, oh yeah, absolutely. Irkens are super materialistic, so I bet they'd design all sorts of cool looking ships that can pack a serious punch. Hey, what if they got so focused on flashy appearances that some of them aren't actually that good for battling or maybe they're super good at battling but aren't as fast as they could be? Those huge lasers are bogging it down :( Given that the Massive's crew casually gambles in Hobo 13, they'd definitely do it for a sport like this. |

The huge lasers are the propulsion system, and the ship gets ahead by ricocheting off blasting other ships. |

Now that I'm thinking about it, a pak is a round, metal target on their backs. There's probably aliens who've made weapons specifically for tearing Irken's paks out.
