ALSO ppl who hc the empire as it is being tens of thousands of years old. kind of confuse me? bc the empire as is definitely isnt sustainable for more than a few hundred years, and a LOT can happen within just 10 of them. i like to think that irkens werent a spacefaring race until like 800-900 years ago and a majority of their advancements were insanely quick bc they had a supercomputer organizing their shit and they were also stealing ideas from everyone else I wonder if the irken empire has actually fallen multiple times at this point. Everyone thinks they’re dead but then they just keep coming back like cockroaches. Nobody knows how it happens and by all accounts it doesn’t make sense but it still happens. |

i think for the most part people can do what they want if its actually harmless ( doesn't mean I don't like it, but like, whatever ) but it ALWAYS gets on my nerves when people "redeem" Zim or make him suddenly Anti-Empire. like he would not do that! he would not!!!!!!!!!!! If he were to be anti-empire it would be purely on accident and in a way where he thinks he's doing good for the empire... wait, that's literally just how canon works. like why even get into something like IZ if you're going to ignore all of it....  ?? Edit: also, in the rare cases that it's not actually z@dr: ZADF where' theyre just like. perfect buddies that never fight and aren't mean, even a little. i like ZADF! but it has to be where they can have a (relatively, in IZ context) Nice Moment and then immediately try to kill eachother. edit edit: highly biased of course, but i wish more people payed attention to Tak as i think she's an interesting character and didn't only look her way for... yknow. >_> |

Something I feel like a lot of smeetfic writers (including me) miss is that first-generation Irken parents would probably be really bad parents, at least to start with. Their society has no role of parents to teach by example and the closest thing Irkens get to parents are the Control Brains, their instructors, and Cold Unfeeling Robot Arm. Plus, their society really likes to show their strength by bullying whatever's smaller and weaker than them, which is also not a good trait for a parent. Irkens also haven't had parents in so long they've probably lost most of their parenting/nurturing tendencies as well (except for Zim, bless his heart). I don't think that first-time parent Irkens would understand how to care properly for any kind of baby (smeet or otherwise) and what kind of care and attention they might need.
Plus, most child acquisition in IZ fics is unplanned (either by adoption, kidnapping, or...biologically) and suddenly being saddled with a child you didn't ask for and didn't prepare for definitely won't help matters.

However, Zim was a pretty good parent to Lil' Meat Man (or at least showed affection towards it). Perhaps an Irken who was raised as a smeet by a species with good parents or learned parenting through watching their non-Irken parent colleagues could have the potential to be a good parent. |

not really a gripe but i like characterizing the earth in iz as being waaaayyy different than real life earth or some kind of fucked up alternate timeline. my favorite of my interpretations is the one where the USA dissolved into separate states and the soviet union is still going strong. really funny and i wish more people would stop like. treating it like its 1:1 real life earth but zim is there Florida is a theocratic monarchy with an alligator religion because I think it's funny. Wherever Dib is is still American, but who knows how different IZ!American culture is from IRL!America. actually i think the membrane family is coded as "spanish natives that basically live in hell canada." /lh |

Red, Purple, and Zim with anything approaching a good butt or "thicc". They're all scrawny and flat as a pancake. Especially the Tallest. They're so skinny they look they would blow over in a strong wind, so there's no way there's anything there. I know their armor has a bell-shaped skirt, but I guarantee it's all metal and padding. They're all bony underneath.
ANOTHER BEEF: Depicting Tallests wearing corsets next to their skin with no underclothes. Or with "corset marks/scars" from wearing it next to their skin.

When people make Miyuki shorter/more delicate than Spork in AUs where they're co-Tallest/Mates/Married just because she's female. She CANNOT be shorter than Spork because if she were, Spork would have been Tallest instead of her. The logistics just don't work out that way.
Also, when people make Purple shorter/less muscular than Red. Their whole deal is they're the exact same height and body type, (so aside from fanon differences in metabolism/body type between the two) they should have the same height and amount of muscle, since they've presumably been getting the same food and amount of exercise. If Red has leftover muscle from his time in the Elites, Purple should too.
Another Beef: When people erase Purple's time in the Elite/make him less of a soldier than Red. Purple passed the entrance exam, same as Red, Zim, Skoodge, and all the other Invaders and Elites. Purple's an airhead and a coward, but he was good enough to be an Elite and train to become an Invader.

Purple's an airhead and a coward, but he was good enough to be an Elite and train to become an Invader. goddd i hate it when people try to make red and purple more different than "theyre the same design but recolored" it makes me so uncomfortable... esp when its the shippers doing it bc they always end up doing weird shit to them and making it into the favored "strong handsome man and meek little man" dynamic eventually where purple is somehow shorter (rapr anti rant, incest cw) i think i have a lot of problems with rapr than just that though like all forms of it are weird. like my beef with it is kind of like my beef with ppl shipping characters that look (almost) exactly alike in general bc my brain sees that and goes OH NO like yeah you can say "oh theyre not related because theyre clones" or something like that but like ive heard that said for so many characters that were intended to be like. twins. like anyone remember rin and len the vocaloids??? ppl would say "oh no theyre robots theyre not related theyre just made to look the same" like it makes any fucking sense they still seem like twins bro |

totally agree, but, at the same time.
one of my irken ocs is definitely wearing a bra and putting balloons in it because she saw a stray magazine and went "i want big booby." so in that instance i think, that specifically is very funny.
