I don't know if this has been said before, but when people have smeet characters that were created through pregnancy. I'm fairly certain that all Irkens must be sterile at this point in their history given that they reproduce entirely via cloning. It would also be much more interesting if the smeet characters were created through illegal cloning means if the person didn't want them to be created in a smeetery (Is that a canon or fanon term? I like it either way). Like, an Irken character steals cloning technology for their personal use to create a smeet. JV said Hatchery (and i think hatchery is the funniest term, little alien fuckers? like chickens.) im 100% here for this tbh. gonna go steal some cloning equipment.
Holy fuck, I just remembered that they crack the cloning tubes open like eggs. What if Zim was doing one of those "babysit an egg" projects for a parenting class at Skool and he just, fucking, cracks the eggs open because he thought it was supposed to represent a fetus and why would you babysit something that hasn't been born yet? He's so shocked when he gets an F on the assignment.

I'm kicking myself for not thinking of having an Illegal Child by stealing cloning equipment. That's honestly the better trope than what I'm working with. You're right, and I salute you. I'll still probably stick with my current plans for Tank (for thematic reasons) and make another OC to explore this concept, because it's so cool.

As a trans man, the idea of men being pregnant in fiction is really fucking cool! I'd love to see the idea of trans men being pregnant be normalized while acknowledging that it doesn't make them any less of a man, but people are so cis centric that they made up a whole fetishy anatomy system for cis men while we're right there.

Yes, this! I really wish people could write pregnacy without ciswashing it! Getting back to transphobia, this problem of fetishizing pregnant trans people also extends to pregnant nonbinary people.

Oh yeah, that too! This is probably obvious, but it's rooted in the idea that we're "not actually" the gender that we say that we are by emphasizing the biological functions specific to AFAB people. The gender identity part just makes us more spicy™ to cis people I guess?

reverse complaint about canon not fanon im pretty sure jhonen and the other writers characterize the irken empire as spanning multiple galaxies but like... itd be really fucking funny if it were like only a little ways away from the local bubble (that earths sun is in) and earth seems REALLY far just because everything is really close together away from it

I think Jhonen could come up with some really funny explanations for Irken logistics if he wanted to.

Good analysis! I especially love the sandcastle metaphors.
